Cardio disappeared while my weight just hovered

I’m almost two years into this, down 92 lb, and the last four months have been a tug-of-war with the same five-pound window. I used to knock out a 5k after work.

Now my knees and lungs act like it’s a brand-new sport. I lift three days, walk about 8k steps, get around 110g protein, and sleep is mediocre at best.

The weight isn’t really moving, but I can feel my patience grinding. Has anyone rebuilt their cardio without turning every session into a recovery project?

I’d push back a bit. Losing the 5k probably isn’t the main thing. I work nights too.

My stalls track sleep debt and shift-week eating way more than cardio. 3 lifts, 8k steps, 110g protein is already decent.

What changed in the last 4 months? Shift rotation, eating window, weekend calories?

I’d track 7-day average weight and waist, not that 5-lb window. After big loss, a 5k can feel brutal when sleep is mediocre.

I scaled to 10-min post-shift walks or bike. Kept lifting. Scale moved when sleep got boringly consistent.

Sorry to hijack — but what’s your cheapest dorm-protein move that isn’t another sad tuna packet? I’m rotating cottage cheese and lentils and losing the will.

Back to your thread: when my scale did the same 5-lb hula, my 8k steps were still there but way slower, and my “3 days lifting” had quietly become 3 days of showing up and doing fewer hard sets. Logging pace + reps for a week showed the output creep.

Are you tracking waist/strength at all, or just the scale? That helped me not lose my mind.

Road warrior here too. When my 5k vanished, I switched to “airport cardio”: backpack on, walk the terminal instead of gate-sitting, plus 10 min of hotel stairwell laps before dinner.

Not glamorous, but it kept my lungs from filing a missing-person report. Sharp question: are you tracking anything besides the scale—waist, resting HR, how stairs feel?

My scale stalled for six weeks while my belt moved a notch, and that kept me sane. Hotel breakfast protein is my nemesis, so I stash jerky/eggs when I can. Sleep is my wild card too.

Hi, brand-new member here, week one, so I’m mostly nervous-lurking. This might be a dumb question, but when the 5k vanished, did your 8k steps stay at the same pace/intensity, or did they turn into more stop-and-go?

I only ask because I started tracking weekly averages in a notes app instead of daily weigh-ins—my scale bounces 3 lb with salty dinners, and it was messing with my head. Wishing you luck; 92 lb is incredible.

That plateau after a big loss is so demoralizing. When mine hovered for months, I stopped staring at the daily scale and tracked two boring things: waist at the navel every Sunday morning and whether I could add a rep or a tiny bit of load on one lift.

Scale stayed flat, waist dropped about 1.5 inches over six weeks. Also, are you doing your 8k steps in one block or scattered?

Short scattered walks were way easier on my knees than trying to recreate my old 5k.
