New here after a move and a nervous first week

hi everyone, I’m brand new here and only on day six, so please forgive the small questions. I moved from Norway to the U.S.

last year, and I’ve been surprised by how much the little routines around meals and prescriptions feel unfamiliar. My concrete thing: I set my phone alarm for 7:10 and put a sticky note on the bathroom mirror, yet I still opened the fridge twice before I remembered why I was standing there.

I’m not looking for dosing advice—just wondering whether the early nerves are normal. Did anyone else feel like a guest in their own routine at the start?

I’d love to hear what small thing helped you feel less wobbly. Thank you for having me.

Welcome — the move-to-US routine reset is real, and day six is early. I’ve been here a few years, and the thread last spring about “anchor habits vs alarms” helped me: I stopped relying on a clock alarm alone and attached my morning stuff to something I already do without thinking (coffee, then breakfast).

For meals, I tracked jut two things for a week — when I actually ate and what felt easy to repeat — not calories. It made the unfamiliar grocery store less overwhelming.

Sharp question: is the sticky note failing at the same time each day, or is your meal timing still shifting? That tells you whether to fix the cue or the schedule.

Honestly, one thing that finally stuck for me after a move scrambled my routine: I renamed the alarm itself with the action and location—like “7:10 kitchen counter”—instead of trusting a mirror note I’d stop seeing by day four. I also kept a dumb paper calendar by the coffee and made one checkmark for the routine, not the scale.

Two weeks of that chain made me weirdly stubborn about not breaking it. I’m parked on a plateau right now, so I get how annoying the small-routine grind feels.

Is it the morning piece that’s slipping, or are meals later the harder part?
