A sticky note on the yogurt lid helped most

I’ve been trying to figure out what actually moved the needle for me lately, and it wasn’t a new plan. It was a dumb little sticky note I put on the yogurt lid in the fridge: 'Are you hungry or just done with the day?' I saw it 4 or 5 times a day at first.

Some nights I still ate the yogurt plus a handful of crackers. But most nights I paused, drank water, and either ate it slowly or realized I wanted sleep more than food.

I tracked it for 21 days: 14 evenings without the second snack, which is huge for me. My weekly average dipped 1.2 lbs, but the better win is that evenings feel less like a negotiation.

What’s one tiny cue that’s been doing more work than you expected?

This is such a good one. I did a version with a dry-erase marker on the fridge: I’d write the time + “H or H?” (hungry or habit?) before opening it.

The weirdest thing I learned was that 8–10pm was almost never real hunger—it was just my brain wanting a period at the end of the day. So now I make a mug of herbal tea and set a 10-min timer.

If I’m still hungry after, I eat something with protein. Not perfect, but the pause itself became the win.

Did you notice a certain time of day the note helped most?
