Three refills, three wait times, and a price swing

eighteen weeks in, I started a note on my phone: date, quoted price, days from call to pickup, and whether the fridge box was actually there. Last month was $104 and 11 days.

This month, the same prescription was $96 at one counter and $143 at another, with a 3-day wait versus 9 days. The pharmacy stock page said 'in stock' at 8:10am and 'backordered' by 2pm, so I called at 4 and got a different answer.

I’m not loyal to any one counter now; I just want the shortest gap between refill due date and bag in hand. I also noticed the price changes more than the wait times do.

Does anyone else keep a fill-time column, or is it just me?

I do the same note but added a column for who answered the phone and what time I called. Wild how much it changes: the early crew at my grocery counter quotes me one number and actually checks the fridge; later it’s a shrug and “come back Tuesday.” Sharp question: does your swing line up with weekday vs weekend?

Also, I keep a snack-drawer bin—string cheese, turkey sticks, cherry tomatoes—so the unpredictable wait doesn’t turn into me eating the kids’ Goldfish. Not glamorous, but it’s saved my sanity and my grocery bill.
