Regained 30 pounds and my testosterone conversation got complicated

I lost 60 pounds in 2022, kept most of it off for about a year, then drifted back up 30 after a rough family stretch. At my physical last month, my total T came back 312, and my PCP brought up TRT.

I also have a GLP-1 script sitting in my pharmacy app that I haven’t started. I keep going back and forth: drop the regained weight first and see if the number moves, or start the GLP-1 and recheck later?

Sleep is 5.5 hours on work nights, I lift twice a week when I can, and my waist is up 3 inches from my best. Not asking anyone to choose for me — just want to hear from people who hit this same fork.

Did losing weight change your testosterone enough to matter, or did TRT end up being the piece that helped?

The unopened pharmacy app script is the most relatable villain here. One lever at a time.

One thing I’d want clarified before pinning that 312 on the regained 30: was it a morning draw, and did they check SHBG/free T? Total T alone feels like a blurry snapshot—body comp, insulin resistance, and sleep apnea can all tug it around, and SHBG changes what the free fraction actually is.

I track waist, sleep, and lifting because those move together for me. Did your PCP mention a repeat morning lab or a sleep screen?

That’s the follow-up I’d ask about; the pharmacy app script will still be there.
