The fifty-pound mark crossed my seven-day average, not the scale

I weigh every morning and only really react to the 7-day average. This week that average slid under 184.0 for the first time, which puts me 50.6 lb below my starting number.

The actual scale has been doing its usual nonsense: 185.8 after a salty dinner, 183.2 after a long walk, 184.4 this morning. A year ago those swings would have hijacked my mood.

Now I just let the dots be dots. What helped was keeping the same boring routine: coffee, bathroom, scale, log it, move on.

The milestone didn’t feel like fireworks; it felt like one more entry in a spreadsheet. If your daily number is being loud today, zoom out. The line does the talking.

Anyone else have a threshold show up on the average first while the scale itself kept clanking around?

congrats on the 50! i do the same 7-day avg thing in a google sheet and added a tiny column for “late soda?

salty dinner?” — my scale bumps line up with diet soda + late tortilla chips way more than i expected. the avg ignores the noise but the notes keep me from panicking.

do you backfill missed mornings or just restart the avg? i’ve been carrying the last known weight forward for gaps and it feels less jagged, but idk if that’s cheating the trend.
