My GLP-1 log's alcohol column is getting weird

Eleven weeks of tracking weekly standard drinks next to sleep, resting HR, and weekend calories. Before this, my baseline was 8–10 drinks, almost all Friday and Saturday. Last four weeks: 2–3. Not because I’m white-knuckling it. The reward just isn’t there.

I opened a beer Saturday, took three sips, and poured it out like a monster. My trendline shows weekend intake calories down about 500, sleep score up 12%, and resting HR down 4 bpm on Sundays.

Mildly contrarian take: the drug didn’t delete the urge for me, it deleted the payoff. I still want the ritual, then I’m bored of the actual drink.

Social stuff feels flatter without that buzz, which I didn’t expect to miss. Anyone else tracking drinks as its own column?

Did your numbers shift before your brain caught up?

For what it's worth, i remember a thread last spring about “the ritual being the reward.” Your three-sip beer story is that in action. I track a 1–5 “did I actually want this?” score next to drinks, and it explained my trendline way better than the count.

My total dropped from ~7 to 2, but the craving score fell first. Weirdly, my weekend calories didn’t drop as much as I expected — the salty snack hand just found a new hobby.

Are you logging whether the drink felt worth it, or just the number? Curious if your sleep/RHR shifted before the pours got shorter.

Same pattern here, but the useful variable was substitution. Drinks fell 9→2, yet weekend calories were flat because I replaced the buzz with 300–500 kcal of salty carbs after dinner. If your weekend calories haven’t dropped with the alcohol, plot them against your drink log —

Not the ritual thing, but check your weekend calories line against the drink line. When my drinks fell from ~8 to 2, my weekend calories didn’t drp at all—I was making up for it with late-night pretzels and an extra coffee drink.

The scale sat flat for five weeks. I only figured it out because I started noting why I was eating, not just the number.

Did your weekend calories actually fall, or are they flat while the alcohol column shrinks?

Funny you mention pouring it out—I did that with a hard cider at our town fish fry. What got me was my Saturday morning resting HR: it dropped about six beats even in weeks I still had two drinks, but only once I also quit the late-night salty snack bowl.

My log made it look like alcohol was the whole story, but the chips and later bedtime were tangled in. Did your weekend calories actually fall with the drinks, or did something else slide into that slot?

I’m curious if your numbers can separate the two.
