Crash quit before scale did

Not a huge drop to report, but something shifted. For 12 days I’ve been doing two boring things: 30-ish grams of protein at breakfast and a 10-minute walk after lunch.

The scale is down 1.1 pounds, which is fine, but the bigger deal is that my 3 p.m. slump isn’t dragging me to the pantry anymore. I actually drank water and kept working yesterday instead of hunting for something sweet.

I’m tying to let that count as success instead of immediately asking what’s next. For those who’ve been at this a while, what non-scale win showed up before the number moved? And how did you keep yourself from dismissing it?

This is such a good NSV. The scale is the slowest part; the 3 p.m.

panry detour quitting is huge. One thing that helped me: I made a “3 p.m.

default” instead of relying on willpower. Filled water bottle on my desk, and either a cheese stick or a few almonds already portioned.

If I still feel slumped, I do 20 air squats or walk to refill my bottle. Usually the urge passes in 10 minutes.

Are you tracking your afternoon energy at all, like a 1–5 rating? That helped me see patterns way before the scale caught up.

Not to rain on the 1.1 lb parade, but your afternoon-crash data is the real signal. I log slump as a 0/1 at 3pm plus steps, and my 28-day trendline says the crash tracks breakfast protein more than lunch walk.

30g+ before 9am = crash rate down ~60%; adding the walk after lunch mostly killed the urge to snack, not the sleepiness. Question: are you tracking time of crash, not just whether it happened?

My 3pm slump actually moved to 4:15 when I shifted carbs later, which changed my whole afternoon plan.

night shifter here. My 3 p.m. slump was actually 3 a.m. Same pantry pull. What helped: protein right after I wake, then a 10-min walk halfway through the shift. Not after the meal. Timing mattered more than the amount. Are you on nights too? If so, what time is your lunch? That’s the piece I’d move first.

This is the kind of NSV I love. I had a similar thing when I front-loaded protein—my 3pm crash became more of a “hmm, maybe I’m

late hours gamer here, so my 3pm is more like my 10am lol. the thing that finally stopped my pantry autopilot was keeping a cold sparkling water in the fridge and doing a half-soda/half-sparkling taper.

weirdly the fizz + can-in-hand thing mattered more than caffeine. i also started a dumb phone note: 3pm energy = good/meh/trash, and whether the walk happened.

after 2 weeks i could see walk days were the good ones, not protein days. have you figured out which of your two boring things is actually carrying the slump fix? or too tangled to tell yet?
