Different syringe box from the pharmacy and I froze

I grabbed my refill between daycare pickup and t-ball, and the box is a different shape than last time. Same pharmacy, same prescription, but the syringes inside have different markings on the barrel.

I shoved it in the drawer next to the ketchup packets and then second-guessed myself all evening. Didn’t touch it until I called the pharmacy the next morning.

They said it was just a manufacturer change. Still, it rattled me because my brain was already juggling two kids, cold cereal dinners, and a snack drawer that whispers my name after bedtime.

My only strategy is keeping cut fruit at eye level and moving chips to the garage shelf. Anyone else get weirdly thrown by packaging changes, or is it just me?

ugh, solidarity. My pharmacy swapped syringe brands on me twice and the new barrels looked like alien hieroglyphics. I lined old and new up on the counter, snapped a photo, and had the pharmacist confirm it was just a packaging

Oh man, the drawer next to the ketchup packets is exactly where my brain goes blank too. Actually I think it’s more like the prescription stays the same but the lot/supplier can change, so the box shape and barrel markings can shift without anyone switching your actual script.

I started snapping a phone pic of the box label and writing the date on a sticky note in the drawer—mostly so I’m not playing detective at 9 p.m. Did your pharmacy say it was just a different lot, or are they having you bring the old box back to compare?

I’d ask them to put a note on your file so the next refill isn’t a surprise.

I keep a “known-good” reference photo in Notes: box label plus one syringe beside a ruler. Any refill that looks off gets compared before my brain spins.

If it doesn’t match, I ask the pharmacist to confirm the NDC on the box matches the last fill. Not medical advice, just inventory control.

Did your new box have the same NDC as the old one, or just the same Rx number?
