My neck is leaning out faster than my skin can keep up

I’m 10 months in, down about 34 lb, lifting four days a week, protein around 160g, and sleep is finally consistent. Face and collarbones look sharper, which I wanted.

But my neck now reads older than it did when I was heavier: crepey texture, a couple of new horizontal lines, and that loose-hanky feeling under the chin when I look down. I’m not chasing a cream or a shortcut; I’m trying to figure out whether this is a recomp thing that settles once weight has been stable a while, or mostly skin and age that lifting won’t touch.

I train traps and rear delts, but that’s not neck skin. For people past the lean-out phase, did yours tighten up after maintenance, or did you just adjust to the new version?

I’m about 14 months out and noticed the same lag: face/collarbones sharpened first, neck looked older for a stretch. What helped me track it objectively was monthly neck circumference plus same-angle photos, because the “crepey” phase coincided with still-losing, not maintenance.

In the trials I’ve read, skin laxity isn’t really an endpoint—mostly weight, waist, lean mass—so a lot of this is anecdotal. One question: are you still in a deficit, or has weight been stable for a few months?

If still dropping, the submental fat may still be shrinking while skin remodeling trails behind. Mine looked less “hanky” once weight stabilized, though the horizontal lines didn’t vanish.
