Routine scan found a thyroid nodule and my brain went sideways

Annual physical in September, TSH came back slightly weird, so my doctor ordered an ultrasound. There's a 1.2 cm nodule on the right side. Everyone keeps using the word "unremarkable" and I'm supposed to rescan in six months and otherwise forget it exists.

I'm 14 months in and my weight has been politely identical since June, and now my head has decided the nodule explains everything — the flat scale, the tired afternoons, the fact that I needed a sit-down after hauling groceries up the stairs on Saturday. Logically I know these are common and mostly boring.

My aunt has a couple and has never given them one thought. But I keep rereading the printout like it's going to say something new.

Anyone else have one of these turn up on routine imaging? Did it change how you and your doctor talk about staying on this, or did you just file it and get on with your week?

Tbh totally get the brain sideways thing. I had a nodule found and did the wait-and-scan thing a few years ago,

The six-month “forget it exists” limbo is brutal—like your brain refuses the assignment. One concrete thing: are you only tracking the scale, or also waist/hips/strength?

From June to now I was flat on the scale but down a jeans size and up in squats, so my body was recomposing while my head spiraled. Also, did the plateau start around the same time as the thyroid worry?

My sleep went to garbage during a health scare and I held water like a camel. Not saying that’s your nodule, just that stress/tracking can mask progress.

What does your non-scale data say?

Not a doctor, but I’m 2 years into a “boring” 1.1 cm nodule. What helped my brain was treating the wait like a shipping-delay log: scan date, portal ETA, and cost ($0 preventive vs $210 self-pay at the imaging center, worth calling first).

I also track weight, waist, resting HR, and sleep in the same spreadsheet. My weight sat flat from May–Aug while my steps dropped ~1,800/day—unrelated to the nodule, but the data stopped me from blaming my neck.

Does your scan place give you a portal
