I started at 290 and reached 228 this week, so about 62 pounds across 52 weeks. I weigh most mornings and track a weekly average on Sunday, which has kept me from reacting to every salty dinner or poor night of sleep.
The first three months moved quickly, then winter was mostly flat; I spent about ten weeks bouncing inside a 4-pound range. Two habits seemed to help: a 20-minute walk after lunch and a protein-forward breakfast.
I am also down two dress sizes and one shoe width, which I did not expect. My weekly average is still drifting down a little, maybe 1 to 1.5 pounds, but some weeks it goes up. I am trying to trust the trend.
For those who use weekly averages, how do you stay patient during long plateaus?
