I’m 58, kids launched, and I’ve been rebuilding my days instead of just waiting for them to visit. Down 62 pounds since last spring. I walk 30 minutes most mornings, cook a big pot of vegetable soup on Sundays, and keep chopped peppers in the fridge for when the quiet gets loud.
But most days I look in the mirror and think, same old me. Then my sister sent a cookout photo last weekend. I stared at it for a full minute. My face looked different.
My shoulders looked different. I pulled up an old photo in the same shirt and honestly gasped.
The scale has been telling me one story, but pictures are finally telling me another. I’m trying to trust the slower evidence. Does anyone else need a photo to believe it, or am I the only one whose mirror is late to the party?
