My reply-timestamp log suggests this place has three rush hours

I keep a tab in my spreadsheet called “forum clock.” Mildly embarrassing, but it’s just timestamps of threads I actually read, not anything medical. I’m in GMT+2, and over the last 61 days I’ve logged 184 replies across maybe 20 threads.

My trendline shows three local peaks: around 07:05, 14:20, and 23:10. The late one is mostly North American posts, the midday one looks UK/EU, and the early one I can’t pin down yet.

I expected this place to be overwhelmingly one region. It isn’t. That changes how I read advice, because someone’s “morning” is my afternoon, and someone’s “late-night craving” is my dinner. I’m curious where everyone is posting from, and whether you have a usual hour or just show up when the house goes quiet.

lol the late peak is just us North Americans avoiding bedtime, I feel seen.

ha, my forum clock is just the snack drawer: open it and both kids appear like magic.

Ha, same—my late-night scroll kicks in right when I’m supposed to be sleeping before the phamacy rush.

I run a cafe and your 14:20 peak is exactly when I hide in the walk-in to catch up 😂

Ha, I love a spreadsheet tab with a purpose. I’m in GMT-5, so your 14:20 peak lands at 7:20 my time — that’s exactly when I’m parked outside our little pharmacy waiting on the monthly pickup and scrolling the forum.

Your 23:10 peak is my 4:10 p.m. insurance-call-after-work window, so I bet a chunk of that is folks killing time on hold.

Do you separate weekdays and weekends? My Saturday pattern shifts about two hours later, especially once the farmers market crowd clears out.

Also curious if your 07:05 peak is mostly European/Australian posters or just early-rising locals.

I work nights. My forum clock is useless. Peaks: 9:30pm pre-shift, 3:15am break, 8:30am wind-down. Same three-check pattern, just shifted.

Your 07:05 is probably North American night owls hitting bed. 23:10 is Europe evening plus NA afternoon. Not three rush hours. More like three different crowds.

Do your peaks move on weekends? Mine flip hard. Friday and Saturday I’m awake when normal people are. Normalize by hours since you woke instead of clock time. Trendline gets cleaner.

Your 7:05 peak is just me scrolling before leg day, honestly.

Ha, I love a good forum clock. I did a loose version of this for a month last spring and found the 14:20-ish spike was mostly Europe/UK lunch break, while the 07:00 one was people checking in before work.

The 23:10 wave, yeah, that's North America after dinner—and it's usually a different vibe: more "did I mess up today?" than practical stuff. One thing I'd be curious about: do you tag the thread type?

I suspect recipe/meal ideas cluster in the morning peak, while plateau/venting posts dominate late. Past threads on tracking habits always show that pattern.

I run a similar tab, though mine’s only 44 days. My local peaks (GMT+2) hit 06:45, 14:05, 22:40, so basically ~15–30 min before yours. That makes me think we’re seeing a mix of forum traffic and our own log-and-read habit, not a pure forum clock.

One thing I’d split out: weekday vs weekend. My 14:20-ish peak vanishes on Sat/Sun; it’s clearly people avoiding work. Also, 23:10 GMT+2 is 17:10 ET / 14:10 PT, so I wouldn’t call that late—more like US afternoon.

Did you normalize by how many active threads you had open? Raw reply counts can just follow whatever thread you happened to be in.

Night shit here. Your 23:10 peak is my lunch break. Makes sense.

a forum clock is so my kind of nerdery. Does the late wave feel calmer or just insomniac? 😅

Late wave feels calmer to me—just the dog’s last walk and me pretending I’ll sleep early.

My sheet calls the late wave “insomniac o’clock” and honestly it’s weirdly wholesome.

23:10 is just me microwaving dorm tuna before bed, sorry for skewing your data 😅

Mine turned into less of a clock and more of a mood ring. When I logged thread type instead of just timestamps, the 14:xx block was mostly “how do I start” questions; the late one was longer maintenance/plateau check-ins — reflective, not urgent.

Sunday late was the outlier: double the posts, all essay-length. If you slice your 184 replies by thread type, does the 23:10 wave skew long-form or just faster?

I quit my tab once I hit maintenance because I started replying before coffee. Now I lurk until I actually have something useful to add.

Another sheet person here. I color-coded my own forum-timing tab by weekday vs weekend, and my mid-afternoon peak turned out to be lunch-break scrolling—on Saturdays it sid to about 10:30 and nearly vanished. Does your 07:05 peak hold on weekends? Mine doesn’

I’m in GMT-7, so your 07:05 peak lands at my 22:05—right when I’m doing my last “body scan” before bed. Weirdly, that’s when I reply fastest but shortest; my afternoon replies are long and rambly.

I started color-coding my replies by length after I noticed the late ones were mostly one-liners. Have you looked at whether your 23:10 wave is actually moe replies or just more people online at once?

Also, I love that you only log threads you actually read—keeps it from becoming another chore.

curious about the denominator: 184 replies over 61 days is only ~3/day, so a “peak” could be two posts clumped together. Did you normalize by total forum activity in each hour, or just the threads you personally read?

I tried a similar log and my 14:xx bump evaporated once I split weekdays vs weekends—weekend mornings did the real work. Also, are those timestamps daylight-saving-adjusted?

Asking because I’m genuinely tempted to copy your tab.

Night shift here. Late wave isn't calm, just too tired to argue.
