Trying to hit protein when food feels like a chore

i’m six months in and my appetite has gone quiet in a way I didn’t expect. The problem isn’t wanting junk — it’s that almost nothing sounds appealing, so I coast on coffee, a few crackers, and then panic at 9 p.m.

because I’m nowhere near my protein number. I can usually get 70–90 g if I plan, but my goal is around 130 g and the last four weeks I’ve been hovering there, scale barely moving, energy flat. Greek yogurt helps.

Rotisserie chicken helps until I’m sick of it. Eggs are fine one day and repulsive the next.

I don’t want to live on bars and shakes, but I also can’t keep ending the day with a sad spoon of cottage cheese. For people who’ve gotten protein up without forcing meals: what actually worked when your appetite was low?

Did you change timing, texture, or just accept a boring rotation?

70–90g is honestly a solid base — you’re not starting from zero. When my appetite got quiet, what helped was separating “protein” from “a meal I have to want.” I kept one boring, easy anchor I could eat on autopilot (plain Greek yogurt with a little jam, or pre-cooked chicken bites) and ate it by the clock, not by hunger.

Coffee first was my trap, so I started logging that anhor before my first cup. Sharp question: which protein feels least chore-like for you right now — creamy, savory, or cold/refreshing?

Build around that instead of trying to want a full plate.

man the 9pm panic is my whole vibe. the only thing that worked for me was making a boring “neutral” protein snack i don’t have to actually want—cold vanilla shake with extra ice, or cottage cheese + crushed crackers—and treating it like a quest timer: ~25g at 11am/4pm/8pm instead of trying to claw to 130 by dinner.

tracking it like that made it way less emotional. what textures/flavors still work when nothing sounds good—sweet, salty, cold, liquid?

i’d build the whole week around that one category instead of forcing “real meals.”
