Chicken and whey both turned on me this month, and it has been rough

Not a horror story, just an annoyance that's quietly wrecking my training week.

Somewhere around month four, chicken breast started smelling wrong to me. Not spoiled — I checked the dates, cooked it properly — just wrong.

A week later the same thing happened with my whey. I run a 190g protein target on four lifting days a week and I've been landing closer to 140 because I physically can't get the last shake down without gagging.

Sleep's fine, appetite's fine, lifts have held steady. It's specifically the two foods my whole plan was built on. I've swapped to ground turkey and cottage cheese and that's better, but I'm rotating the same three meals and it's getting old fast.

Has anyone had a staple protein source just stop working for them? Did it come back, or did you permanently rework your food list around it?

Hi, I’m brand new hre (week one), so I don’t have the month-four wisdom yet — but I’m already tracking protein for lifting days, and leftovers are the first thing I’ve noticed. Cold or reheated chicken has an off, almost metallic smell to me, while freshly cooked and shredded into soup is still okay.

Whey smells fine in a fresh shake but gets weird if I leave the shaker too long. Just curious: is it only reheated chicken for you, or any chicken?

I’m asking so I know what to keep an eye on. I hope it settles for you.
