11mo log, scale quiet...

No movement on the scale since early March. I keep doing the same things that worked for the first stretch — protein at every meal, a walk after dinner, water bottle refilled four or five times a day — and the number just sits there.

My waist tape says I've lost about an inch across those same weeks, which is the only thing keeping me sane. What I didn't expect is how much of this phase is mental. I can do the boring stuff.

The hard part is ding it without any feedback that it's working. I catch myself wanting to change five things at once just to feel like I'm doing something.

Last week I swapped my afternoon snack and cut my coffee in half and neither mattered, obviously. So my current rule is: one small change per month, everything else stays.

This month it's adding a short session of resistance work twice a week. Not dramatic, just something to keep the routine alive while the scale sorts itself out.

Anyone else been through a phase where the measurements moved and the weight didn't? How long did it take before the number caught up?

For what it's worth, waist down an inch while the scale is flat is a real signal, not just a consolation prize. In the trials, weight plateaus often show up alongside continued waist loss, especially when sleep, training volume, or sodium shifts are muddying water balance.

One concrete thing I’d check: are you measuring waist at the same time of day, same spot, after a normal exhale? I started taping first thing before coffee and it got way less noisy.

Also, has anything changed since early March—stress, workouts, fiber, cycle, travel? If clothes are looser in more than one place, I’d trust the tape for a few more weeks.

What does your trend look like if you average weekly instead of daily?

If the tape is down an inch, the scale isn’t stalled—it’s just noisy. Are you looking at daily weights or a 7-day rolling average?

A true plateau is 4–6 weeks of no change in the average, not the same number on random mornings. I’d add upper-arm/thigh measurements and monthly photos.

Also, are you weighing food or estimating? “Protein at every meal” can still hide a 300–500 kcal drift.

What’s your weekly average done since March?

Eleven months in, the scale is basically a coworker who shows up every morning and says nothing useful. My own flat stretch ran about nine weeks, then dropped 3 lbs over a long weekend — pretty sure my body just finally agreed to release some water it had been hoarding out of spite.

One concrete thing that helped: I measure my waist at the same landmark every time — top of the hip bone, normal exhale, no sucking in, tape snug but not tight. My numbers got way less jumpy after that. Are you doing any strength work? That's often what's hiding under a flat scale.

Mom of two here, so chaotic mealtimes are my cardio. The one thing that saved my santy during a flat stretch: I only compare weights from the same week of my cycle.

Otherwise I was just measuring bloat and salt from kid leftovers. Also did a snack-drawer audit — if the crackers are at eye level, I eat them.

Moved them to a high shelf and put yogurt tubes and pre-portioned nuts down low. Are you tracking any other spots besides waist?

My upper arm and thigh tape moved before the scale did.
