I got off the floor without bracing for it

Not a milestone anyone would put on a chart. I was on the rug helping my nephew with a puzzle, and when I stood up I just... stood up. No hand on the coffee table, no rocking forward twice. I only noticed because I caught myself waiting for an effort that never showed up.

Some context: I lost around 55 lbs a few years ago and then let 30 of it come back. Eleven weeks into starting over, 14 down, which is slower than I'd like but real.

Here's the part that's messing with me. My body is acting like it trusts me before my brain is willing to. I keep waiting to feel like someone who's "back at it," and mostly I feel like someone who's embarrassed and trying anyway.

Anyone else get these little physical receipts that don't match the mood in your head?

For what it's worth, oh, I love this. Mine was picking up a dropped glove in the driveway — just bent down and came back up, no hand on the car door.

Funny how the scale gets all the attention and then the real payoff shows up in a puzzle on the rug. I keep a note on my phone called "things that got easier," because when I stalled out for about three months it was the only thing that kept me from losing my mind.

My pharmacist said she hears that from folks more than anything. Has anything else surprised you lately — stairs, getting out of the car?

And hanging onto 25 of that 55 is genuinely a win.
