Down 34 lb since March. After a year of AHI 18–22, my machine logged 4.1 last night. Same mask, same pillow, same sleep position. The only variables are the weight and a 20-minute evening walk. I care more about this number than the scale right now. Anyone else see sleep metrics move before waist measurements?
My CPAP app stopped flagging high-event nights
Yep, that was me. About 18 lb down, my AHI went from 16-ish to 7 before my jeans changed at all.
Weirdest part: my first clue was sleeping through the night without the 3 a.m. bathroom trip. Do you look at leak rate too? Mine spikes if I roll onto my back and the app starts flagging junk events, so I check the mask fit graph before I panic.
Also, our local DME said insurance only really looks at usage hours, so I quit stressing the nightly AHI and started watching the 7-day average. 20-minute walks might be helping more than we think—congrats on 34!
Does your app break out obstructive vs central vs hypopnea, or just a single AHI? Mine lumps them, and when I exported the SD card I saw my drop was mostly fewer obstructive events while supine—central/clear-airway stayed flat.
Leak spikes also made some nights look worse. Did the 20-minute walk happen close to bedtime?
If it shifted sleep onset or time in each stage, that could move AHI independent of weight. I’d compare event type, leak, and supine time side by side before crediting one variable.
