My training frequency doubled and I'm logging the why

Not a dramatic post, just an observation. Over six weeks, my lifting went from two sessions/week to four.

Same prescription, same appetite control. The change is energy after dinner instead of negotiating with the couch.

I'm tracking session RPE, protein, sleep, and soreness. Squat and row loads are creeping up; bodyweight hasn't moved much.

Resting HR bumps 3-4 bpm on lifting days and settles by morning. It reads like recovery is the limiter, not motivation.

Anyone else see training volume rise once appetite got quieter, or is this just the novelty phase?

Love that the energy shift is the real driver. Bodyweight stable while loads climb is a win—recomp in slow motion.

One thing I track when frequency goes up: resting heart rate and how long it takes to fall asleep. For me, adding a fourth day meant I needed an extra 30 min of sleep or my RPE crept.

How are you spacing the sessions—two back-to-back or every other day? Curious if your soreness is more systemic or localized.

This is super helpful. One thing that kept my 4x/week from collapsing was a “minimum session” rule: warm-up + first two sets on low-energy nights.

Most nights I finish the whole thing, and it kills the all-or-nothing spiral. How are you logging soreness—per lift or whole-body?

I’m trying to tell the difference between actual fatigue and new-frequency DOMS.
