Any lifters here actually messed with peptides and myostatin stuff?

Long-time lurker, first post. 37M, 5'10", down 42 lbs over 11 months on a GLP-1, sitting around 184 now.

Lifting 4x/week (upper/lower split), 180-190g protein, 7.5 hours sleep most nights. Visibly recomping — scale hasn't moved in 10 weeks but my waist is down about an inch and a half and my sleeves are tighter, so I'm calling that a win.

Problem is every time I fall down a peptide or nootropic thread I see the same handful of names: the Russian brain stuff, the IGF variant, the mitochondrial ones, SLU-PP-332, myostatin inhibitors. Half those posts read like ad copy, the other half are guys three days in swearing they feel "dialed in." I'm skeptical by default — most of it looks like expensive urine with unknown long-term risk attached.

So has anyone here actually run any of these for more than a few weeks, alongside a real deficit and a real lifting program, and noticed something that wasn't just the GLP-1, the food logging, and sleeping eight hours? Or is it all hype and placebo?

I haven’t, mostly because I know I’d struggle to tell whether any change came from the peptide or from the slow recomp that’s already working. Your 10-week scale stall with a smaller waist and tighter sleeves is exactly the pattern I’d want to protect before adding another variable.

The thing that helped me most was plotting weekly averages for weight, waist, and sleep, plus one lift per major pattern, so I could see trends instead of daily noise. Are your main lifts still inching up on this split, or have those flattened too? That would be

Not the fancy stuff — my “peptide protocol” is a clearance-tub of whey and Greek yogurt I ration like dorm gold.

Honestly, the cheapest thing that convinced me my recomp was real: notebook lifts + monthly waist/arm tape. Scale flat but bench up and sleeves tighter? That’s the good weird.

Have your main lifts still been climbing while weight stalled? And how the hell are you hitting 180g protein on dorm food?

I’m over here making tuna-chickpea bowls and pretending it’s cuisine.

I’m with you on the flat-scale-but-tighter-sleeves thing. I haven’t messed with myostatin stuff—my small-town pharmacist basically laughed and said insurance wouldn’t touch half the peptides folks ask about, and I’m too chicken for unknown stuff anyway.

What I do track: waist at navel and smallest point, plus one arm and thigh measurement every Sunday morning before food. That’s what caught my recomp when the scale stalled.

Sharp question: are you logging total hard sets per muscle weekly? When I went from 12 to 16-ish for back/shoulders, my shirts changed way faster than my weight.

Curious if your 4x upper/lower is high-volume or more strength-focused.

Not a lifter who’s tried it, but I’ve gone down the PubMed rabbit hole. The myostatin story is strong in mice and rare human mutations; the inhibitor trials I’ve seen are much messier — mixed hypertrophy, some halted for safety.

So my sharp question: which specific human trial or biomarker are you basing the hype on? For tracking, I’d log e1RM on main lifts, weekly waist/arm/thigh tapes, and same-light photos.

If those don’t move with food/sleep/training held steady, I’d assume whatever I added was noise or placebo. What would you accept as a real signal?

Trend-line nerd here—the metric I’d add is performance at a fixed load: same squat/row weight, track reps across top sets each week. Concrete follow-up: are your lifts actually creeping up at 184, or just holding?

If reps/load are trending up while weight is flat, that’s your recomp signal and I’d ignore the daily noise. If performance is flat too, that’s the data I’d dig into—recovery, weekly volume, stress—before getting curious about exotic peptide stuff.

42 lbs down plus tighter sleeves is already a strong run.

Not peptides, but the thing that broke my last 10-week scale stall was auditing my actual weekly volume — I’d gotten sloppy and was basically doing the same weights forever. Added one hard top set per main lift, kept everything else the same, and measurements finally started moving again.

Curious: have your lifts gone up at all during those 10 weeks, or just the sleeves getting tighter? If strength’s flat, that’s the dial I’d mess with before going deep on myostatin.
