Overseas trip soon and the side-by-side photo is making me hesitate

We booked Portugal for 12 days in September. First big trip since I got to maintenance, and I’m calm about food but weirdly hung up on the photo part.

My friend wants to recreate an old shot from the same overlook where I was 70 pounds heavier. I don’t mind the comparison; I just don’t want the day to become a photo shoot.

For those who’ve done a big trip after goal, did you plan meals loosely, or just let the week be a week and deal with the scale after? Also, do you post the side-by-side or keep it for yourself?

I get this. When we recreated a photo in Italy, I told my friend we get one location and 10 minutes, then the phone goes in my bag.

We also checked the light first—midday at an overlook is brutal; golden hour or open shade made it painless. If you’re worried about the day becoming a shoot, agree on a shot list: the recreation, one full-body, one candid, done. Then go eat and walk.

What’s the bigger worry: her wanting 100 frames, or seeing the old you side-by-side? If it’s the comparison, do the photo early and don’t review it until you’re home.

One weird angle doesn’t erase the work.
