My daily average sat still for nineteen days, then budged

I weigh every morning and log it, but I only really react to the weekly average. From the middle of last month through this one, that average sat in a 1.6-lb window. Same breakfast, same walk, same sleep most nights.

I did not change anything clever. I just kept logging and tried not to narrate every blip as a verdict. Then Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday each came in a few tenths lower. Nothing cinematic.

The average finally dipped below where it had been hovering. It felt less like a switch flipped off and back on, and more like my body was doing some invisible paperwork before releasing the next small chunk. I used to panic at flat stretches.

Now I treat them as noise with better PR. Anyone else seen a long level stretch resolve on its own without a big intervention?

Twenty days is such a test of patience. One thing that helped me when my weekly average parked was switching from calendar-week averages to a rolling 7-day average, plus a 14-day trend line.

The rolling number updates a little every morning, so I stopped witing for Monday to feel progress. I also started noting the lowest and highest morning of each week; when the floor starts inching down, the average usually follows a few days later.

Did your Sunday–Tuesday move just nudge the average, or did it also drop your weekly low? Either way, keeping the log without turning every blip into a verdict is a real win.

Night shifts here too. My morning weights are junk after a salty 4am meal—can swing 2 lbs and sit there. I compare same weekdays only and track waist once a week. Did your shift pattern or sodium change during those 19 days? That can flatten the average without real fat changes.

When you say weekly average, is that calendar week or rolling 7-day? I switched to a rolling 7-day plus a 10-day median because calendar weeks made me overread Fri/Sat.

Also, did anything change in sodium/carbs or training load in the 3 days before it budged? I had a similar 19-day flat stretch, and the only thing I could find was a lighter training week—weight dropped after water/inflammation settled, not fat leaving overnight.

Not saying that’s your story, but worth logging if you want a less narrative explanation.
