Tbh, last spring I stood in the kitchen staring at a full family-size casserole and realized I didn't need to cook like four people still lived here. I started walking the block after breakfast — 10 minutes at first, now 35 minutes, 4 days a week.
I also learned to roast a sheet pan of vegetables without drowning them in oil, and I keep a bowl of washed grapes where the chips used to sit. Down 38 pounds and two jeans sizes, but the bigger change is sleeping through the night and actually wanting to cook again.
Some weeks the scale stalls and I get grumpy, then I remember this is a long game, not a sprint. Anyone else find the empty-nest kitchen is both the hardest and best place to start?
