I hit 125 down and the next 20 feel heavier

I started in February 2025 and the scale has dropped 125 pounds total. The first 90 came off in chunks that felt almost unfair. Since June though, I’ve been circling the same three-pound window.

I’m still tracking, still lifting three mornings a week, still getting 120g protein, still walking after dinner. Nothing dramatic changed. My energy is better, but the tape measure hasn’t moved much either. I’m not looking for a magic tweak.

I think I’m just tired of doing the boring stuff and watching the number shrug at me. For those who got through a long holding pattern: did you change anything, or just keep stacking quiet weeks until it cracked?

At that stage I’d stop trusting the daily scale and look at a 10–14 day rolling average plus waist at navel and mid-thigh. After my first ~100 lb, I had a 6-week flat scale while my lifts went up and waist dropped ~1.5 in.

Also check non-exercise activity: lifting 3x/wk can make you unconsciously sit more, and post-dinner walks can get shorter without noticing. What do your weekly average weight and waist measurements look like since June?

If those are flat too, it’s usually intake creep—tracking can drift by 100–200 kcal/day over months. If waist is still dropping, you’re likely recomposing.

Random one, but the thing that broke my last stall was ditching the scale for a month and tracking tape instead. Waist down 3.5 in and hips 2 in while the number sat in the same 2 lb window for five weeks straight.

Meanwhile my squat went 95 → 135 and my grip on the 40s got easy, so clearly stuff was still shifting under the hood. The scale just cashed it in later, all at once.

How are your lifts trending right now — still adding reps or weight weekly, or has that flattened too? If the gym numbers are climbing I'd bet you're closer to another drop than it feels like.

What broke my last 8-week stall was auditing my weekly calorie average, not my daily one. I was “on plan” Mon–Fri, but weekends were sneaking in 600–900 extra via unlogged bites and drinks.

Once I totaled Sunday–Saturday in my app, it was obvious I was eating at maintenance for my new lower weight. I kept protein and lifting the same, trimmed ~150/day, and added a 15-min afternoon walk. The window finally cracked.

Have you checked your 7-day average lately, or recalculated what maintenance looks like 125 pounds down? That math changes way more than motivation does.
