Month four made my cheap tuna a gamble

I’m a dorm student running on microwave rice, canned tuna, and whatever protein is on sale. Month four was pretty uneventful until Tuesday night, when about six hours after a tuna-rice-hot sauce bowl I started burping like a haunted radiator.

My roommate asked if our mini-fridge had died. The taste hung around until morning, and I spent my study block staring at a pack of crackers like they owed me an apology.

Not asking for medical advice, just wondering if anyone else has a cheap safe food that suddenly turned on them around month four. My wallet wants tuna to stay; my sinuses are filing a complaint.

sulfur-eggy or just stale-tuna? That distinction matters. I’m on one of these meds, and months 3–4 were when delayed burps from dense dorm meals became a thing. I started logging: open date on the can lid, fridge temp, hot sauce type—vinegar vs oil—and time from last bite to first burp.

My only repeat offender was an already-open can that sat >48h. Now I use pouches or eat the whole can same day. Was yours a fresh pop-top or leftovers?

And do you have a cheap fridge thermometer? Mine was running warm, which ended the guessing.
