My pen reached me after six weeks of travel

I run a small café, so I'm used to judging whether something's still good — milk, herbs, yesterday's soup. This is a different kind of guess, and I know it.

My order shipped from overseas and took about six weeks door to door. Tracking went silent for nearly two weeks in the middle, and when the box landed the cold packs were basically tap water.

The pen itself looks fine — clear, no floaters, seal intact — but it sat through who knows what warehouse heat, and the whole point of the labeling is staying under 25°C.

I'm not fishing for anyone here to tell me it's fine to use. I've already messaged my prescriber and I'll go with what they say.

What I'm actually curious about is the logistics side. Do you toss a cheap thermometer in the box? Photograph the delivery?

Has a parcel ever dragged like this for you, and did you just decide the uncertainty wasn't worth it?

Mostly I'm kicking myself for ordering with that much runway before my refill window. That part is entirely on me.

Six weeks is a brutal cold chain. Gel packs give maybe 48–72h of useful latent heat depending on payload and insulation; after that it’s ambient.

Melted packs only tell you the end state, not the max temp. Sharp question: did the shipper include a data logger, or just gel?

If no logger, I’d ask for a transit temp profile next time—or use a cheap USB logger. I do that for perishable side orders and it replaces the “is it still good” guess with actual

Tbh i’m new here too, only week one, so tiny panic questions are currently my whole personality. After my own delivery took a weird detour, I screenshotted every tracking scan and photographed the box before opening, mostly so I’d have a clear timeline if anyone asked.

Did yours have one of those little temperature indicator strips inside? If yes, did it change? If not, I’d be curious whether the outer box felt closer to room temp or still cool when it landed.

Not asking for advice—just wondering what clue you’re going on.
